UAE player Sanjana makes a mark at her first Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) tournament

The 9th Mouhafzah Club ATF 14 and under series was held from 5th to 9th of July 2010 under the auspices of the Syrian Arab Tennis Federation. The venue was Teshreen Sport City in Damascus, Syria.

Sanjana Sudhir, a member of UAE Tennis Association and a ranked player in the under 14 girls category participated in this tournament. Sanjana Sudhir made a strong impression in the tournament and emerged runner-up in both the Singles as well as Doubles. In Doubles she teamed up with compatriot Rikeetha Pereira.

In the pre-quarter finals, Sanjana Sudhir defeated Ms Ashrafian of Iran (6-2, 6-2). In the next round Sanjana had a comprehensive win over the Iraqi girl Gadah Al Jaleely (6-3, 6-1). In the semi-finals Sanjana had a marathon tussle with Iman Qureshi of Pakistan. At the end of the 3 hours and 30 minutes long match which was drawn into a third set tie-break, Sanjana emerged the winner with a score 3-6, 6-4, 7-6. In the finals however Sanjana lost to Aula Mourad of Qatar and thereby lifted the runner-up trophy.

Sanjana is a resident of Ruwais, Abu Dhabi Emirate, UAE and hails from India.
